#6 Before The Rain

Morning Reflections
Sitting at my desk this morning, I saw this view out my window (see image above.) Excuse our backyard; it’s winter, and nothing looks good out there this time of year. It’s only cold in California for a few months a year. And since everything in our yard is drought tolerant, meaning low water and lots of sun, the plants shrivel into a collective of bland brush when the cold hits. Aside from the yard, what struck me was the bright blue sky peppered with gray and white cumulus clouds. Isn’t the scene so pretty? The contrast of the stark white against the dazzling blue is just so striking.
Gratitude
Given that this blog is about discovering the good things that are a part of every day, one thing I’m grateful for is the rain coming in later today or tomorrow, hence the cumulus clouds. We always need rain here, as long as it doesn’t rain so much that it causes mudslides where the fires were last month in Pacific Palisades and Altadena. We don’t need that.
But rain is always a good thing when you live in what used to be a desert on the coast.
