#23: The Love & Hate In Packing For a Trip

Reflections

Over the past year, I’ve noticed a troubling shift in my approach to packing for trips. Gone are the days when the mere thought of an upcoming adventure would spark a wave of excitement that had me packing my bags days in advance. I used to take pleasure in the process, carefully curating my outfits and essentials with joy and enthusiasm, imagining the experiences that awaited me. Now, however, that thrill is overshadowed by a sense of dread.

Packing has transformed from a delightful ritual into a stressful chore that I often postpone until the last minute. Instead of savoring the anticipation, I find myself in a frantic scramble, throwing clothes into my suitcase and hoping I won’t forget anything important. The carefree joy I once felt has vanished, replaced by a hurried chaos that leaves me unprepared as I embark on my travels.

Gratitude

On the other hand, the love aspect of this journey envelops my heart with a warm, joyful anticipation. Amid the dread of packing, there exists the comforting thought of my mom, whose warm embrace is awaiting me at journey's end. Just envisioning our reunion brings a bright smile, igniting a wave of excitement that courses through me as I inch closer to that precious moment. I can't wait to see her again and cherish some quality time together.

Off to pack I go. Wish me luck.

See you tomorrow!
