#45: My Artistic Instincts Steered Me In An Entirely New Direction
A few days ago, I embarked on the exciting journey of creating a new diptych, a project that allows for a rich dialogue between two interconnected canvases. This dynamic format opens up endless possibilities for expression, prompting me to explore themes and contrasts that can unfold beautifully across both pieces. You can read more about my thoughts and progress in the journal post I wrote about this endeavor.
Whenever I begin a new painting, I often find myself in a state of exploration and experimentation, not always knowing the exact message I want to convey. However, I usually have a clear vision of the color palette that will set the emotional tone for the piece. Selecting this palette is crucial, as colors have a profound ability to evoke feelings and tell stories visually. Additionally, I grapple with the decision of whether to work on a single canvas or to divide my vision across multiple surfaces. The latter option adds layers of complexity and invites interaction between the canvases, allowing for a deeper narrative to emerge.

After dedicating several months to my “Fragile Thresholds” series, I initially expected this diptych to mirror that style in terms of shapes and aesthetics. However, as I delved into the creative process, it became apparent that my artistic instincts were steering me in an entirely new direction, and I couldn't be more thrilled about this evolution.
I am eager to share my journey with you, so please check back here or follow my updates on Instagram for more insights and glimpses into the progress of this exciting new project.
See you tomorrow!
