#43: Embarking on a New Diptych

Painting a new diptych

Today, I embarked on the creation of a new diptych, which consists of two canvases, each measuring 36 inches by 36 inches. As I began this artistic endeavor, I found myself contemplating whether to incorporate this piece into the series I announced yesterday or to develop it as an entirely new collection that explores different themes or styles. This decision will ultimately influence the direction of the work and its impact on my overall artistic narrative. I am eager to see how the concepts will evolve as I progress with the painting.

I’ve chosen to work with the same color palette I utilized in my Fragile Thresholds series. This includes a harmonious taupe, tan, gray, and black-and-white blend. Each of these colors holds significant meaning for me, as they evoke a sense of subtlety and complexity. Taupe adds a touch of warmth, while tan infuses a sense of grounding. The varying shades of gray introduce layers of depth, contrasting beautifully with the starkness of black and the purity of white. Together, these colors create a nuanced interplay that reflects the themes of fragility and resilience I explore in my work.

See you tomorrow!
