#35: Crickets or Frogs?

It’s been a dreary, rainy day here in California, a welcome but rare occurrence. If you've been following my journal from the beginning (Hi Mom and Sissy!), you know that rainfall is something we don't see often in this part of the state. In fact, this may very well be the last of our winter rain, so I'm trying to appreciate every moment.

As I took the dogs out before bed, I was suddenly enveloped by the loud, rhythmic chirping coming from the barranca below our yard. The sound echoed all around, filling the crisp air with a lively chorus. Intrigued, I hurried back into the house and grabbed my cell phone to capture the enchanting sounds on video. Once outside again, I stood still, trying to pinpoint the source of the sound—was it the unmistakable chirping of crickets, or perhaps the croaky calls of frogs?

I recorded a short video to share with you all. Please take a listen and let me know what you think. Are they crickets or frogs? Your thoughts would mean a lot to me!

See you tomorrow!
